Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you’ll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder? When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.

Meow House Cat Rescue

Although our founders have been rescuing cats for many years, our roots truly began to grow in May of 2012. During this time, we became aware of the dire situation at Harnett County Animal Control where many animals on death row face euthanasia. Although we did not know we would turn into a rescue then, we agreed to take cats who did not find rescues or adopters before their time was up, and attempted to find them loving homes. Each week we took the last few who would have otherwise been left behind and as our numbers grew, we made the decision to officially start a cat rescue based out of Raleigh, NC.Since then, we have grown to include several volunteers, including fosters, helpers at events, administrative, fundraising, and more. Our adoption events take place in many locations around Raleigh and surrounding areas, including Garner, Cary and Apex. Learn how you can become a foster or volunteer here.

Our Adoption Process: There is an adoption package includes adoption application and contracts. All of our kitties are indoor only to make sure our animals are getting there forever home. Our fees average $75.00. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, free of parasites, microchipped and vet checked to be healthy. If there are any kind of issues where you can not keep your kitty, we take them back for the life of the kitty. We are a rescue group which most of our cats and kittens are from the kill list from one shelter or another. We cannot take in found, lost or strays. Rarely do we take owner turn in’s. Please understand, we are not a shelter or pound. We do this out of our homes.

One of the benefits of adopting through us is that each and every cat is fostered in one of our loving homes. This means that we get to know each kitty’s likes and dislikes, (good with other cats, dogs, etc?), and socialize them in a more real-life environment. It also means that we don’t have a “walk-in,” public facility. However, don’t let that stop you! We are happy to meet with you at one of our adoption events, or if you find a kitty on our website who you’d like to meet, we can make a special time to meet with you one-on-one.
